Halfway Point

The halfway mark of a week at camp is the Wednesday night campfire.

The Troop 451 tradition at Raven Knob is to go out to dinner at Golden Corral in nearby Mt. Airy.

Several Scouts who are attending the Raven Knob "Mountain Man" program and are spending the week away from the rest of the Troop joined us for dinner. In "Cripple Creek Village," these mountain men Scouts live without electricity while mining for gems, learning how to track and trap, cooking with a wood cook stove and cast iron, learning about our pioneer ancestors, blacksmithing, and black powder rifle shooting.

As usual, the Order of the Arrow portion of the campfire was stunning. Scouts who are taking Indian Lore merit badge were invited to join in one of the native American dances that were performed.

For more information about the Order of the Arrow, see http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/BoyScouts/OrderoftheArrow.aspx.
